The Millennial Gog-Magog Invasion

THE MILLENNIAL GOG – MAGOG INVASION

Most prophecy students should be aware that two invasion references concerning Gog and Magog appear in the scriptures.  The Old Testament prophecy is found in Ezekiel 38-39.  And the second reference is found in Revelation 20 starting at verse 7. 

Revelation 20:7-9 NET  Now when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison  (8)  and will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to bring them together for the battle. They are as numerous as the grains of sand in the sea.  (9)  They went up on the broad plain of the earth and encircled the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and devoured them completely.

There are several opinions as to the relationship between the two Gog/Magog prophecies, and yes they are opinions because no Biblical proof is ever given, therefore, the explanations are merely assumptions.  No one appears to doubt the Revelation 20 prophecy occurs toward the end of the Millennium.  The Ezekiel prophecy has several possible scenarios as revealed in the next paragraph.

Some commentators feel that the two chapters of Ezekiel represent two different possible fulfillments.  One before the Millennium and the other being a complimentary parallel to the one in Revelation.  Others believe all of Ezekiel is a parallel to Revelation.  However, most of the commentators consider the two Ezekiel chapters to occur prior to the wrath of God toward the end of the so-called tribulation period.

There continues to be a constant barrage of alerts given on various blogs warning the Ezekiel prophecy is likely to soon occur.  These warning alerts are usually based on the appearance of certain countries aligning themselves as allies in the current world scene.  The countries of most concern are Russia, Iran, and Turkey.  Russia and Turkey have been in the news quite regularly with their involvement in the Syria war.  Iran has been an ally of Russia for some time, but they have recently agreed to assist Russia with the Syrian problem concerning defense.  Of course, other countries are listed in the prophecy such as Ethiopia and Libya, but these two do not seem to be a point of contention with the people issuing alerts and warnings.

There is one primary issue mentioned in the Ezekiel prophecy that appears to be completely overlooked or conveniently sidestepped by the bloggers, which is:  “You will say, "I will invade a land of unwalled towns”.  Of course, the major population area of Israel is currently surrounded by a large, high wall.

The Gog/Magog invasion actually occurred during the 1930’s and 40’s with Israel declared a nation in 1948.  The invasion has continued up to the current date and will probably continue until God puts a stop to it.  The only parts left to be fulfilled from the Ezekiel prophecy is the destruction of Gog/Magog during the wrath of God prior to the beginning of the Millennium.

The Millennium

Our current subject for this article is the Gog/Magog invasion occurring toward the end of the Millennium and “why would such a thing happen”.  The possible answer lies in one’s definition and interpretation of the aspects of the Millennium.

The characteristics and properties of the Millennium are mostly found in a few verses in the Old Testament prophets such as Isaiah.  There are some hints found in the Revelation, but not enough to garnish a proper perspective.

A Side Note

By overlooking or ignoring the Old Testament Millennial verses, the SDA (Seventh Day Adventists) claim the earth will be a devastation with no human life possible.  This belief is based on Jeremiah 4:23-26.

Jeremiah 4:23-26 KJV  I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.  (24)  I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.  (25)  I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.  (26)  I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

It is my opinion the above verses are part of a larger context describing the wrath of God prior to the Millennium and is not describing the actual Millennium.

Most personal concepts of the Millennium appear to be a reinvigorated Eden-like earth with Jesus on a throne (somewhere).  There is world peace with absolutely no war of any type.  Everyone gets along like one big family.  The lion sleeps with the lamb and children can play with a once deadly snake.  The above description would necessitate a supernatural act by God to create this scenario and it is doubtful that it will occur.

A Different Explanation of the Millennium

The following explanation or interpretation of the Millennium is new to me.  It is not my explanation but is one taken from the writings of Dr. Stephen Jones of God’s Kingdom Ministries.  His writings concerning the Gospel of Christ, the New Testament theology, and the Old Testament prophetic and historical events are of the highest order and extremely concise.  Dr. Jones end-times writings are essentially diametrical to the popular dispensational, pretribulation rapture, Scofield Bible, Dallas Theological Seminary, commentaries such as:  John Walvoord, Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, Tom Horn, David Bay, Terry James, etc.  His explanatory comments on the Millennium were initially foreign to my train of thought and may be to your ideas as well.

Prior to the Millennium, the earth will be shaken up (perhaps literally or figuratively) and people’s thinking will be changed (see the Side Note above for a possible description of the earth after the wrath of God).  Mystery, Babylon will be destroyed, which is:  the world banking and monetary system along with the Federal Reserve, IMF, World Bank and the BIS (Bank of International Settlements), and possibly the nation of Israel.  The Kings of the East will be used by God to destroy the monetary, international banking Mystery Babylon, possibly by political actions rather than military movements.

Revelation 16:12 NET  Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and dried up its water to prepare the way for the kings from the east

Just as God employed the Old Testament “kings of the east” which included Babylon, Media, and Persia to overthrow and relocate the Judeans from the nation of Judah, He will employ similar “kings of the east” to overthrow the modern nation of Israel and destroy the Mystery, Babylonian system operated primarily by the Khazarian self-named Jews of Israel, Europe, England, and the USA.  The new “Kings of the East” consist of Russia, China, and possibly Iran – these countries have already ridded themselves of the Khazarian Babylonian bankers.

China has already instituted the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) with many European countries joining.  Brazil, Russia, India, and China have developed an economic coalition termed BRIC(s).  The kings of the east are attempting to bypass the Bretton Woods petrol dollar and execute transactions in their commonly used denominations.  There has also been talk of China and possibly Russia setting up a gold-backed monetary system.

The physical or personal appearance of Jesus at His second coming is not discussed (to my knowledge).  Scripture appears to indicate that every eye will see Him, however the actual truth may be somewhat different. 

The overcomers, or the elect of Christ throughout the ages, will be resurrected and will appear with Jesus.  All others, nominal Christians and non-Christians will be resurrected and judged at the White Throne Judgment.  No human being is currently in heaven and no unglorified human being will be in heaven.  The overcomers/the elect will be given glorified bodies and they will become the judges and rulers of the world during the 7^th 1000 years or Sabbath.  The Kingdom of God will apparently only begin in some areas (countries) and will extend throughout the earth as more populations desire to live by the standards of God within the Kingdom of God.

Eventually, as prophesied by the Old Testament, particularly Daniel, the Kingdom of God (or stone) will fill the entire earth (key word is fill).

Daniel 2:34-35 NET  You were watching as a stone was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its iron and clay feet, breaking them in pieces.  (35)  Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were broken in pieces without distinction and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors that the wind carries away. Not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a large mountain that filled the entire earth.

At the beginning of the Millennium, Satan is placed into the abyss or bottomless pit.

Revelation 20:3 NET  The angel then threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)

Toward the end of the Millennium, the Devil is released.  Actually, verse 20:3 says he must be released.  The scripture says he will deceive the nations, particularly Gog and Magog.

By reading the background links of Gog and Magog, you should now be familiar with the historical background of this group of People referred to as Gog and Magog.  They are descendants of Japheth, particularly Togarmah and Ashnekaz and they are today called the Khazarian Ashkenazi Jews.  Others, calling themselves Jews, are an Edomite-Judahite mixture as it was in the living days of Jesus.  There may actually be real Judahites existing in the world today.  They despise Jesus Christ today and the thousand year surviving descendants will apparently despise Jesus Christ and His people at the end of the Millennium.  Therefore, Satan will not be required to expend much energy to ignite their rebellion.
