Nimrod the Assyrian: Asshur

NIMROD THE ASSYRIAN

It is interesting that the exploits of Nimrod are presented in the Bible immediately preceding the calling of Abram (Abraham) from an area around the Babel (Babylon) area.  Just prior to Abraham’s calling by God, the inhabitants of Babylon underwent a transformation of their single language into 70 different languages.  The Lord God then assigned each of the various language groups the governance of one of 70 angels comprising the Divine Council.  Some of these governing angels were mentioned in the book of Daniel:  the prince of Persia and the prince of Greece.

Genesis 10:8 first mentions Nimrod as the son of Cush.  Verse 10 lists the cities of his kingdom, in the land of Shinar.  Immediately after Nimrod’s cities, Verse 11 speaks of Asshur and his building of cities in the Assyrian area.  A son of Shem, named Asshur, is not mentioned until verse 22.  The Asshur of verse 11 is considered to be another name for Nimrod.  Peter Goodgame comments that names such as Asshur were commonly duplicated in family lines.  He states that Asshur is the name given to Nimrod when he traveled to Assyria and founded cities.  It is generally accepted that Nimrod founded Ninevah and Calah, which is now known as Nimrud.  Archaeologists have discovered a stele of Asshur (Nimrod) holding a flail and a club in excavations around old Nimrud.

Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.  (Genesis 10:11-12 KJV)

Micah 5:6 appears to connect Nimrod with Assyria

And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
(Micah 5:6 KJV)

Abraham was promised the land of Israel and several years later, the Hebrew people were taken from Egypt and placed in the land of Canaan.  In a type of prophetic parallel, after the wrath of God, the Israelites will once again be gathered from the areas of the world and brought again to the land of Israel perhaps from the areas listed in the scriptures below.

At that time the sovereign master will again lift his hand to reclaim the remnant of his people from Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and the seacoasts.   (Isaiah 11:11 NET)

At that time the nation of Judah and the nation of Israel will be reunited. Together they will come back from a land in the north to the land that I gave to your ancestors as a permanent possession.   (Jeremiah 3:18 NET)

Arthur Pink, a pastor and writer, states that one like Nimrod will arise and fill the picture outlined by the life of Nimrod.  The name of Nimrod means “the rebel” similar to a name of the antichrist that is “the lawless one” who “shall oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God.”  Scripture states he “began to be a mighty one in the earth” meaning he obtained this might by force.  In like manner the little horn of Daniel subdues three horns with the remaining seven ascending to his will and authority.  The Biblical phrase “the mighty hunter before the Lord” means he pursued his dictatorship in defiance of God when he built a city to contain the inhabitants rather than allowing them to inhabit the earth.  The purpose of the tower was to design a type of star gate to permit an avenue for additional Watchers to inhabit earth and to allow the deluded Nimrod to ascend to the heavenly dimension and do battle with God.  Nimrod’s purpose was to become the new god of the earthly humans as the antichrist will magnify himself above every deity and god and will declare himself to be “god”.

"Then the king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every deity and he will utter presumptuous things against the God of gods. He will succeed until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been decreed must occur.   (Daniel 11:36 NET)

Chronicles 1:10 says “And Cush begat Nimrod; he began to be a mighty warrior on the earth.”  A document termed the Chaldean Paraphrase is a targum written in Aramaic of the Hebrew Bible.  The paraphrase of the Chronicles 1:10 scripture according to Arthur Pink is:  Cush begat Nimrod who began to prevail in wickedness for he slew innocent blood and rebelled against Jehovah.”

The Beast
The Revelation names the last world empire empowered by the dragon as the beast.  The name “beast” will also be applied to the last world emperor, who most likely will be Apollo/Osiris/Nimrod who ascends from the bottomless pit.  Regardless of the empire or antichrist’s original identity, let’s look at the word “beast” which is the word therion in transliterated Greek.

thērion
Thayer Definition:  1) an animal  2) a wild animal, wild beast, beast  3) metaphorically a brutal, bestial man, savage, ferocious

As can be seen in the Thayer Greek Dictionary a beast is any animal and specifically a wild animal.  Metaphorically, it is a person with bestial, savage, and ferocious attributes.  Several exegetes have surmised, based on extra-Biblical texts, that pre-flood Watchers and human cohorts experimented with animal-human DNA cloning.  This could account for so-called mythological entities as:  satyrs; minotaurs; centaurs; griffins; unicorns; and many others.  Satyrs, unicorns, cockatrices, and lion men are mentioned in the Bible.

Is there a possibility that Nimrod contained animal DNA?  Was he part animal?  Thomas Horn suggests that a genetic splice of animal DNA may be initially applied to the antichrist and later become a part of the mark of the beast.  After all, the giants or Nephilim were partially non-human and thus did not have the spirit of God.  Upon their death the non-human spirits which they contained were left to roam the earth as evil spirits or demons.

Isaiah 10:5 NLT  "What sorrow awaits Assyria, the rod of My anger. I use it as a club to express My anger.

Nimrod As The Assyrian

Micah 5:1-6 KJV  Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
(2)  But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.  (3)  Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.  (4)  And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
(5)  And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
(6)  And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Micah begins with a siege against Jerusalem by someone referred to as “he”.  Verse 2 is a well-known Messianic prophecy found in Matthew 2:6.  When Herod was visited by the wise men, he inquired of the religious leaders concerning the child in question.  One of them quoted the scripture of Micah 5:2.

"'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'"   (Matthew 2:6 NIV)

The last sentence of the passage for not quoted by the religious leader, “whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”  This indicates the Messiah Jesus is eternal.  V3 The Lord will temporarily be distant from the people of Israel.  I view this period as the 70th week of Daniel when Israel (and the world) will be engulfed by the beast.  After the wrath of God, the remnant of Israel will be gathered into the land of Israel.  V4 appears to be descriptive of the Millennium rest.

Verse 5 states the “man of peace” or the Lord Jesus will establish peace when the Assyrian comes into the land which is most likely referring to the Armageddon non-battle.  The Hebrew for the Assyrian does not contain the definite article “the” and the Septuagint translates the word as Asshur which agrees with the Hebrew dictionaries.

And he shall have peace when Assur shall come into your land, and when he shall come up upon your country; and there shall be raised up against him seven shepherds, and eight attacks of men. (Micah 5:5 Brenton)

Peter Goodgame made the comment in his book The Second Coming of the Antichrist that interpreters may have had a problem with the Hebrew word “ashshûr” without knowledge or the understanding of Assyrian history or mythology so they just translated it as “the Assyrian”.  This particular translation of “the Assyrian” has caused some confusion in recent eschatology.  Asshur is the name of the chief Assyrian god who was originally called Nimrod in the Bible.

Micah 5:5 could read as, “The Messiah, Jesus will establish peace when Nimrod, known as Asshur, comes into your land.”  Daniel 11:45 indicates the antichrist will place his palace and headquarters around Jerusalem.  The antichrist is the one who comes into the land and Peter Goodgame, Rob Skiba, Gary Stearman, and others claim that his name is Nimrod also known as Asshur.

Nimrod Part 2: Nimrod as the Antichrist

THE ANTICHRIST AS NIMROD PART 2

It appears the majority of the post-flood giants from the tribe of Canaan/Cush/Ham.  Mizraim was the son of Canaan  and Caphtor was the son of Mizraim.  It is said that Caphtor was the father of the Philistines.  The Bible states the Philistines came from Crete, which is the island originating all the Greek mythology.  Some documents translate Crete as the country of Caphtor.

For the time has come to destroy all the Philistines. The time has come to destroy all the help that remains for Tyre and Sidon. For I, the LORD, will destroy the Philistines, that remnant that came from the island of Crete.
(Jeremiah 47:4 NET)

This gives strong evidence the Greek pantheon of gods traveled to Crete and then Greece as a post-flood migration.  Mythology is not necessarily tall tales but rather highly exaggerated truth.

The Tower of Babel
As stated earlier, the so-called tower of Babel was not constructed to allow someone to walk to heaven.  It was not built for height, otherwise it would not have been constructed in a valley in an area barely above sea level.  If height was an issue, the tower would have been built on a mountain or a higher area than sea level.  Nimrod and his crew were attempting to build what would be called in today’s parlance a star-gate or a transfer point between dimensions.  The heavenly dimension and the universe dimension.  Perhaps that is what the crew at CERN are attempting.  To my knowledge, no one understands how a dimension gate is supposed to operate.  It is apparent that either someone on the ark had the star-gate knowledge or a demon spirit of a long-dead Nephilim transmitted the information to Nimrod or a close associate.

Nimrod the Nephilim
Considering Nimrod was the son of Ham, whose offspring were the majority of giants, it would be considered reasonable to credit him as a gibborim/giant.  It may not have been obvious at his birth but scripture declares he “began to be a giant” with Nephilim DNA.  It could be that Nimrod through Ham or Cush had knowledge of a method it enhance that particular genetic propensity.  In Summerian mythos Nimrod was considered to be Gilgamesh who is often described or depicted in a carving as a giant with six digits on each limb.  The “Epic of Gilgamesh” text also makes the comment that Nimrod/Gilgamesh was genetically 1/3 human and 2/3’s god or Nephilim.

Nimrod the Antichrist?
Nimrod was the ruler of the majority of the Near East and North Africa including Egypt.  In Egypt he (Nimrod) was mythologized as the figure Osiris.  Other than the Messiah, Jesus Christ, Osiris was the only “god” ever called “The King of kings and the Lord of lords.  This is related in a section of “Excerpts from a Hymn to Osiris” in the Egyptian “Book of the Dead”.

“... he is exceedingly mighty and most terrible in his name ‘Osiris’; he endureth for ever and for ever in his name of ‘Un-nefer.’ Homage be to thee, O King of kings, Lord of lords, Ruler of princes , who from the womb of Nut hast ruled the world and the Underworld...” “Hail, my Lord, who dost hasten through eternity, whose existence is for ever, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Sovereign, King of the gods, who live in their shrine.”  (Excerpts from a Hymn to Osiris in the Book of the Dead)

In ancient Babylon, Nimrod was essentially the ruler of a one-world government.  By constructing the tower, he was attempting to build a dimensional gateway to either allow the entrance of more pre-flood type Watchers or he was completely deluded into believing he would transition into the heavenly realm and possibly kill God and sit in the throne of God as “god”.

And all these people and all the families divided themselves in three parts; the first said, “We will ascend into Heaven and fight against Him;” the second said, “We will ascend into Heaven and place our own gods there and serve them;” and the third part said, “We will ascend to Heaven and strike Him with bows and spears.” And God knew all their works and evil thoughts, and He saw the city and the tower which they were building. (Jasher 9: 26)

As stated earlier, God changed their one common language into seventy different ones and compelled them to migrate from the Babylonian area to various parts of the world.  The legend of Nimrod lived on but his name became one of many.  He continued to be known as the ruler of the world and that at his death he would be resurrected as Tammuz in Assyria or Horus in Egypt.

It the above comments sounds familiar, they should, because they are basically the same story outline given in the book of Revelation chapters 13 and 17.  The beast suffers a fatal head wound and then ascends from the bottomless pit (a type of resurrection) and assumes the position of the eighth king.  He then seats himself in the temple and declares himself to be god.

One of the beast's heads appeared to have been killed, but the lethal wound had been healed. And the whole world followed the beast in amazement;  (Revelation 13:3 NET)

"So when you see the abomination of desolation — spoken about by Daniel the prophet — standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
(Matthew 24:15 NET)

He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, and as a result he takes his seat in God's temple, displaying himself as God.  (2 Thessalonians 2:4 NET)

Peter Goodgame and Rob Skiba have analyzed post-flood Biblical history and non-Biblical texts concerning Nimrod and have concluded that Nimrod is the prime candidate as the beast (antichrist) who ascends from the bottomless pit or abyss.  The non-Biblical documents and other ancient historical texts almost completely agree with the events related in the Revelation.

666
The Epic of Gilgamesh claims that Gilgamesh or Nimrod was 2/3’s god or 66.6% of Watcher linage.  This would give him a DNA bloodline representing 666.

Who can compare with him in kingliness? Who can say like Gilgamesh: “I am King!”? Whose name, from the day of his birth, was called “Gilgamesh”? Two-thirds of him is god, one-third of him is human.  Excerpt from the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet 1

Nimrod is the son of Cush.  His name in Hebrew would be Nimrod ben Cush.  The numerical Hebrew value of Nimrod would equal 294:  Nun=50; Mem=40; Resh=200; Dalet=4.  Ben or “son” has a numerical Hebrew value of 52:  Bet=2; Nun=50.  The Hebrew numerical value of Cush equals 320:  Kaf=20; Shin=300.  294+52+320=666.

Other Characteristics
Nimrod is considered both god (Watcher) and human.
He is called Kings of kings and Lord of lords in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
His symbol is the cross-like anck (a cross with a loop on top)
He is called the beast in the Revelation.  Is he part beast?
He can be considered the first and the last:  first antichrist and the last antichrist.

The Remains of Gilgamesh and Osiris
At some point prior to April, 2003 the tomb of Gilgamesh was purportedly found by a German archeology unit.  The spokesman named, Fassbinder, stated “The most surprising thing was that we found structures already described by (the Epic of) Gilgamesh.  We covered more than 100 hectares. We have found garden structures and field structures as described in the epic, and we found Babylonian houses."   The Epic of Gilgamesh translated text apparently states that the person, Gilgamesh, was described as having been buried under the Euphrates, in a tomb that was constructed when the waters of the river parted following his death.

A burial site that was thought to be of Osiris was found in a tunnel on the Giza plateau somewhere between the Sphinx and the Khafre Pyramid.  There was a large granite sarcophagus containing a skeleton and several amulets.  Dr. Zahi Hawass, the Egyptologist in charge of Egypt’s antiquities, appears to deny it is the tomb of Osiris, but that could be political.  A few writers have stated that Dr. Hawass does that quite a bit.

As stated above the purported tomb of Gilgamesh was discovered in April, 2003.  The US Military occupation of Desert Storm began in May, 2003.  The government claimed to be looking for weapons of mass destruction, but, of course found none.  Their satellites can read the label on Saddam’s cigar but they can’t find so-called weapons of mass destruction.  Of course, the search for weapons was a ruse (a lie).  Perhaps their primary objective was to confiscate the remains of Gilgamesh, who is actually Nimrod.  The US military continues to maintain a base of operations in that general vicinity even now.  Steve Quayle reports that he was informed by a special operations General the US military has the remains of Gilgamesh and that “He was in a state of remarkable preservation and the point was to extract the DNA.”

An unusual quote of Jesus Christ is found in Matthew 24.  After warning of last-days false “christs” and false prophets, He says not to go to the wilderness even if someone tells you that Christ is there.  Also, if someone tells you that the Christ is in the inner rooms, don’t believe it.  The return of the Christ will be in the sky as flashing lightning.

Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles (vultures) be gathered together.  (Matthew 24:26-28 KJV)

Some versions replace the word “eagles” with “vultures” but Greek dictionaries render the world as “Eagles” although most translators consider that vultures would most likely gather at a carcass rather than eagles.  As I wrote in another post, the eagles may be symbolic of the US military insignia of the eagle, and the US military has been gathered at the carcass.
