WHO ARE THE EDOMITES?

Oh, the unimaginable delusion
suffered by the evangelical Christian Zionists.
Believing that the modern state of Israel is actually the Israelites of
the Old Testament. Claiming that modern
Israel is the fulfillment of prophecy.
None is more blatant than the
Cutting Edge website. For years
they have been claiming that Palestinians are the descendants of Esau, also
known as Edomites and Idumeans. It is
not certain the exact racial makeup of the Palestinians but they are not Edomites.
David Bay, the official voice
of the Cutting Edge website, has maintained that Palestinians as
Edomites, will be completely destroyed by the so-called twelve tribes of Israel
in fulfillment of the Obadiah prophecy found in verse eighteen.
Yes, this Obadiah prophecy
will be fulfilled. The Edomites will be
burned and devoured (this may be
metaphoric or not) and there will not be a single survivor of the
descendants of Esau. But the problem
which is completely unknown by the Cutting Edge, and others of their ilk, is
that the Edomites are posing as Israeli Jews and the fake Edomite Israeli Jews
will be the ones that will be destroyed.

Palestinian journalist continues, proclaiming that Israel today is comparable
to Hitler's racial genocide attempt against the Jew 75 years ago. Then, this
video dropped the bomb.

added that Israel is the biggest 'winner' from the Holocaust and that it uses
the 'same justification' as a 'launching pad for the racial cleansing and
annihilation of the Palestinians'."
What did God foretell 2,600 years ago?
"Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in
battle ...there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau ..."
(Obadiah 1, 18, KJV)
Obadiah 1:18 NET The descendants of Jacob will
be a fire, and the descendants of Joseph a flame. The descendants of Esau will
be like stubble. They will burn them up and devour them. There will not be a
single survivor of the descendants of Esau!" Indeed, the LORD has spoken
it.
Do
not be too quick to dispel these words of warning as simply propaganda
hyperbole. Since May, 2000, when God first opened my eyes to the reality of
this passage, I have been amazed that the Palestinians seem so ignorant of
Israel's plan to annihilate her, man, woman and child, and do so with a weapon
of fire (Fuel Air Bomb), precisely as Obadiah foretells.
How
do you keep your public preparations for this genocidal action a secret? For
example, Israel has constructed a border fence to separate the population, Jew
from Palestinian, but this fence is outlandishly more than anyone would need if
the goal were simply to keep Palestinian terrorists from infiltrating and
setting off terrorist bombs.
Indeed,
these fences are 15-feet high and constructed of solid concrete. These concrete
barriers are set in place to act as a heat-shield to deflect any over-spray of fire
from the Fuel Air Bomb).
This
example is but one whiabch should have alerted Palestinian Authorities that
Israel was planning to eradicate all Palestinians.
The Assimilation of the Edomites
The Edomites were absorbed
into the tribes of Judah and Benjamin during the 100 years of freedom from a
beast nation after the death of Antiochus Epiphanes prior to the arrival of the
Roman Empire. By the advent of Jesus
Christ there was no distinctive difference between an Edomite and a Judahite.
Josephus, the Jewish historian, recorded
in his Antiquities of the Jews.
“Hyrcanus
took also Dora and Marissa, cities of Idumea, and subdued all the Idumeans; and
permitted them to stay in that country, if they would be circumcised, and make
use of the laws of the Jews; and they were so desirous of living in the country
of their forefathers, that they submitted to the use of circumcision and the
rest of the Jews’ ways of living; at which time therefore, this befell them,
that they were hereafter no other than Jews.”

Judaism, and from then on they constituted a part of the Jewish people, Herod

tendencies. Thereafter, they ceased to figure in Jewish history. The name in
the Talmud is a synonym for an oppressive government, especially Rome; in the
Middle Ages, it was applied to Christian Europe.”

2). They were again subdued by John Hyrcanus (c. 125 B.C.) by whom they were forced to observe Jewish rites
and laws (ib. 9, par. 1; xiv. 4, par. 4). They were then incorporated with the Jewish nation, and their
country was called by the Greeks and Romans ‘Idumea’ (Mark iii. 8; Ptolemy,
Geography v. 16). With Antipater began
the Idumean dynasty that ruled over Judea till its conquest by the Romans.
Immediately before the siege of Jerusalem 20,000 Idumeans, under the leadership
of John, Simeon, Phinehas, and Jacob, appeared before Jerusalem to fight in
behalf of the zealots who were besieged in the Temple (Josephus, B.J. iv. 4,
par. 5). From this time the Idumeans ceased to be a separate people.

birth-right. He later became known as the progenitor of the Edomites. {SEE

The
Edomites were in Israel when the JEWS were in Israel. King Herod which was not
a JEW was an Edomite. They dwelled amongst the JEWS, ate with the JEWS adopted
their practices, culture etc. Later when Titus besieged Jerusalem and killed
the Israelites and sold the younger ones to the Ethiopians, Arabs, and
Egyptians.

The New Unger’s Bible Dictionary, p. 333. The significance
of the Edomite population merging with the Jews is often overlooked. But it is
not really any secret. Many modern Biblical scholars admit that the historic
event did, indeed, occur. For example: “But during the warlike rule of the
Maccabees (Hasmonean dynasty of the Jews) they were again completely subdued
and even forced to conform to Jewish laws and rites and submit to the
government of Jewish perfect. The Edomites were then incorporated into the
Jewish nation, and the whole providence was often termed by Greek and Roman
writers ‘Idumea’...From this time, the Edomites as a separate people disappear
from the pages of history.”
Considering the modern
location of the Edomite ancestry, it would appear that Obadiah is prophesying of the burning and destruction of modern
Jerusalem and Israel. Recall the above
words of Tom Martincic:

There are some authentic
Judahites, and possibly Benjamites, living in Israel and referring to
themselves as Jews. This group will also
be judged as shone by the following verses, although there are many more). Jesus may have been speaking to Edomites, who
had apparently taken over the majority of the priesthood, or He was speaking to
both Edomites and Judahites.

The
other group of Israeli Jews are the Khazarians.
Their end will be fulfilled according to the Ezekiel 38 and 39
prophecies.
Can you answer a question for me? Amos 9:12 seems to contradict Obadiah 1:18. If The Edomites are to be completely destroyed, than who is the remnant of Edom that Israel will possess in Amos 9:12? The word "possess" seems to suggest that Israel will completely take over an inherit the remnant of Edom. Does that mean the land or the people? Obadiah 1:17 seems to suggest that Israel will possess their possessions, not the actual people. How do you understand this? I provided the scriptures below. Also below, the Septuagint states it differently than the MT. Septuagint says "remnant of men", not "remnant of Edom". And James quotes Amos, but it appears he is quoting the Septuagint, not the MT. Scripture also below. Thank you for any understanding you can provide.

Septuagint, Amos 9:11-12 "In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and will rebuild the ruins of it, and will set up the parts thereof that have been broken down, and will build it up as in the ancient days: that the remnant of men, and all the Gentiles upon whom my name is called, may earnestly seek , saith the Lord who does all these things.

TWO things to always understand about the Bible.”
ReplyDelete1) Unless one is referring to Biblical sections written prior to the death of Solomon, the words “Israel”, and “Joseph”, always refer to the northern ten tribes. After the death of Solomon the ten northern tribes rebelled and became known as “Israel” with the southern 2 tribes known as Judah. In 721 BC, Samaria fell to the Assyrians with the vast majority of the ten northern tribes (whose name was and is Israel) were led captive to some place in eastern Turkey. From there they migrated north and west to became the Caucasians of Europe.
The Bible never makes a mistake by calling Judah as “Israel” or “Joseph” or “Ephraim”. These names always refer to the northern ten tribes. Although many modern commentators and rabbis appear to make the mistake that the Bible never makes.
2) The historical timing of the prophets. Considering Number 1 above the word “Israel” in a prophecy is not speaking of the modern nation of Israel but is either speaking of the northern ten tribes either prior to their deportation by Assyria or the denizens of the Europeans, Americans, Australians, etc.
Amos: Amos flourished during the reigns of King Uzziah (c. 783–742 bc) of Judah (the southern kingdom) and King Jeroboam II (c. 786–746 bc) of Israel.
As can be seen Amos prophesied prior to the deportation of “Israel”. He speaks of the time when his prophecy was fulfilled during the Maccabean period of Judah (100 years). The Edomites were defeated and were told to either become a full-fledged Jew or be deported. They chose to become Jews.

There are no individual Edomites in the world today. They all, regardless of their genetics, think they are Jews. Esau had red hair and a red beard. Any Jews with reddish hair is most likely some descendant of an Edomite. I seriously doubt if there are any full-blood Edomites alive today.
The Obadiah prophecy is relevant for today. He uses words such as “Joseph” which refers to the deported ten tribes. This Obadiah prophecy runs along the same course as Ezekiel 38 and 39. At some point, in the near future, Jerusalem will be destroyed (see Isaiah 29) as a fulfillment of Ezekiel 38 and 39 and Obadiah and a few other prophecies. Ezekiel 38 and 39 was fulfilled in the 1920’s and 1930’s when the Khazarian Jews from Russia and Eastern Europe invaded Palestine to create the modern state called Israel.
The Septuagint Amos 9:11-12 and its repetition in Acts 15:15-17 is not to be taken literally but is a metaphorical means of God saying that all will be prepared and made ready for the northern nation of ten-tribed Israel.
