Jerusalem is now "A Cup of Trembling"

JERUSALEM – A CUP OF TREMBLING

12-6-2017

Today, December 06, 2017, President Donald Trump has stated that the US embassy, now in Tel Aviv, will be moved to Jerusalem.  He also issued an Executive Order recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the current state of Israel.  Most of the world appears to be unhappy with this action other than the citizens of Israel, pre-trib, dispensational Evangelicals, and so-called Christian Zionists.

Zechariah 12:2-3 NET  "I am about to make Jerusalem a cup that brings dizziness (trembling KJV) to all the surrounding nations; indeed, Judah will also be included when Jerusalem is besieged.  (3)  Moreover, on that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy burden for all the nations, and all who try to carry it will be seriously injured; yet all the peoples of the earth will be assembled against it.

Israel braces for violent protests over Trump Jerusalem announcement. Bethlehem protesters burn pictures of Trump; Israel says troops are preparing for a planned ‘day of rage’ in the wake of Washington’s expected recognition of capital.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu hails 'historic day' as he calls for other world leaders to follow Trump and says any peace deal with Palestinians must recognize Jerusalem as Israeli capital
·   President Donald Trump announced the US considers Jerusalem Israel's capital
·   Palestinian terrorist group Hamas said the decision will 'open the gates of hell'
·   Criticism poured in from Tehran to Ankara to war-ravaged Syria and Pope Francis
·   But Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the move as 'courageous and just'

US President Donald Trump would effectively be making a declaration of war if he recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the Palestinians' chief representative to Britain said on Wednesday. 'If he says what he is intending to say about Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, it means a kiss of death to the two state solution', Manuel Hassassian said in a BBC radio interview."

What a joke!! The Palestinians have given the "Two-State Solution" the kiss of death since the 2000 Camp David meeting between President William Clinton, Israeli PM Rabin and the Palestinian's dictator, Yassir Arafat. When Arafat walked out of the negotiations, even though he had been granted 90% of what he was asking, he placed the "kiss of death" on the "Two State Solution".

No Palestinian leader is ever going to recognize Israel's right to exist by signing a "Two-State Solution" agreement. The only "solution" the Palestinians want is to completely destroy Israel and annihilate all Jews.

Mr. Trump’s commitment to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is an extremely important event for prophetic history.  For whatever reason, his executive order marks the beginning of the downfall of the governments of the world and the rise of the Kingdom of God.

As stated previously, Evangelicals and Christian Zionists are rejoicing concerning this move but for misunderstood reasons.  They believe that Jerusalem in its current form will be the capital of the world from which Jesus Christ will rule.  Little do they realize this will be the catalyst for the total destruction of Jerusalem.

Hebrews 12:26-29 NET  Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too."  (27)  Now this phrase "once more" indicates the removal of what is shaken, that is, of created things, so that what is unshaken may remain.  (28)  So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.  (29)  For our God is indeed a devouring fire.

The Hebrews scripture is a quotation based on Haggai 2:6

Haggai 2:6-7 NET  Moreover, the LORD who rules over all says: 'In just a little while I will once again shake the sky and the earth, the sea and the dry ground.  (7)  I will also shake up all the nations, and they will offer their treasures; then I will fill this temple with glory,'says the LORD who rules over all.

Jesus cursed a fig tree (Judah/Judea) because it only had leaves but no fruit.  The current nation of Israel has not produced fruit for the Kingdom of god although it has many leaves.

Matthew 21:19 NET  After noticing a fig tree by the road he went to it, but found nothing on it except leaves. He said to it, "Never again will there be fruit from you!" And the fig tree withered at once.

At the end of the age, Jesus stated that the fig tree would again bear many leaves but again there is no fruit just conflict.

Matthew 24:32-33 NET  "Learn this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.  (33)  So also you, when you see all these things, know that he (i.e. the Lord Jesus) is near, right at the door.

It can be said that the modern state of Israel has covered itself with leaves, as did Adam and Eve, giving the appearance of health and wealth.  However, without the blood of Christ they are only covering their sinful condition.

S. Jones:  The choice is either fruit (of the Spirit) or leaves (self-justification). This is something that most Evangelicals do not seem to comprehend.

By recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the current state of Israel, Mr. Trump has signified the earthly Jerusalem as the bond slave of fleshly things represented by Hagar, the slave woman.  The soon coming New Jerusalem is represented by the free woman named Sarah.

Galatians 4:25-26 NET  Now Hagar represents Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.  (26)  But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother (i.e. Sarah - as explained later).

This sets in motion the “shaking of the nations” including Israel, as prophesied by Haggai in the above scripture quotation.  The shaking could be political or economic and it could also be a literal earthquake.  Jesus spoke of earthquakes during the end of the age and also of famines, pestilences, and many wars.

Matthew 24:7 KJV  For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

The eyes of the blind will remain closed and many will continue in denial until the destruction of Jerusalem is complete.

Although Jerusalem has been destroyed several times in the past, it was always rebuilt.   Jeremiah prophesied the nation of Judah/Israel and the city of Jerusalem would be broken beyond repair as a smashed potter’s vessel.  Since we are at the end of the age, this will be the last destruction.

Jeremiah 19:11-12 NET  Tell them the LORD who rules overall says, 'I will do just as Jeremiah has done. I will smash this nation and this city as though it were a potter's vessel which is broken beyond repair. The dead will be buried here in Topheth until there is no more room to bury them.'  (12)  I, the LORD, say: 'That is how I will deal with this city and its citizens. I will make it like Topheth.

Isaiah prophesies of the destruction of Jerusalem.  The inhabitants will speak from the dust like a spirit from the underworld.  Verse 5 indicates that even the invaders will be killed.  Apparently someone destroys the city other than the invaders.  The destruction will happen suddenly, in a flash, in an instant similar to the results of a nuclear weapon.  The destruction will be accompanied by thunder, an earthquake, and a loud noise, by a strong gale, a windstorm, and a consuming flame of fire (again it is described in a similar manner to a nuclear blast).

Isaiah 29:3-7 NET  I will lay siege to you on all sides; I will besiege you with troops; I will raise siege works against you.  (4)  You will fall; while lying on the ground you will speak; from the dust where you lie, your words will be heard. Your voice will sound like a spirit speaking from the underworld; from the dust you will chirp as if muttering an incantation.  (5)  But the horde of invaders will be like fine dust, the horde of tyrants like chaff that is blown away. It will happen suddenly, in a flash.  (6)  Judgment will come from the LORD who commands armies, accompanied by thunder, earthquake, and a loud noise, by a strong gale, a windstorm, and a consuming flame of fire.  (7)  It will be like a dream, a night vision. There will be a horde from all the nations that fight against Ariel, those who attack her and her stronghold and besiege her.

Word Study Dictionary
Ariel:  The name means "lioness of God (El)
The name was applied to Jeru-salem as the chief stronghold and chosen place of the Lord (Isa_29:1-2, Isa_29:7).

It can also be said that Mr. Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of modern Israel is the ending of a long historical trail.

1.    S. Jones:  In November 1917 the Balfour Declaration set forth the British Government’s intention to set aside Palestine as a Jewish “homeland” (not a Jewish state). In 1947 the United Nations fulfilled this intention by voting to create a homeland for Jews who wished to move there to live alongside non-Jews.

2.    In 1967 the Israelis forcibly took Jerusalem and annexed it as part of their state, ignoring the fact that they were supposed to be a homeland, not a Jewish state. The Israeli state has thus been in violation of the original UN mandate, and this is why the nations of the world seem to be against them. Evangelicals do not understand that the United Nations don’t like the fact that the Israelis have violated their original mandate by which the nation was created in the first place.

3.    This comes near the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Resolution on November 29, 1947.  This comes near the 100th anniversary of when General Allenby took Jerusalem on December 9, 1917, the 24th day of the 9th month (Haggai 2:18, 20). There are two prophecies associated with this particular day. Haggai 2:19 says, “from this day on I will bless you.” Haggai 2:21 says also, “I am going to shake the heavens and the earth” and “overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms and of the nations.”  December 6, 2017 falls between the two anniversaries (November 29 and December 9).
